A Little Bit About Me
Hello! My name is Shirsha Mukherjee. I am currently a 3rd year undergraduate student at the University of Oklahoma. I’m studying Math & Physics, and I also love language & music. In the future, I hope to pursue a PhD in physics, but I am still searching for which branch.
At the University of Oklahoma, I have been heavily involved in President’s Community Scholars- a leadership program for undergraduates. You can contact me for more information about that. If you’re ever near Oklahoma, stop by the university! You won’t regret it.
Research Interests
My research experience spans a broad range of areas, including biomedical engineering, engineering education, high-energy particle physics, and gravitational-wave astrophysics. I am currently a member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, where I use Bayesian statistics methods to study the population properties of binary black hole mergers.
More broadly, I am interested in applying physics and quantitative methods to problems with real-world impact. I am particularly motivated by research that translates fundamental physical principles into technologies or systems that improve people’s lives.
